Make-Up-Monday! E.L.F. Cosmetics

Good Monday Morning! All 5 of you that read this HAHAHA!

Anyways! So I decided to do a kind of overall review for E.L.F Cosmetics. E.L.F is something I found out about watching iCRAiZ. She uses a lot of E.L.F products because they are very inexpensive. REALLY inexpensive. The most expensive piece I've seen (not including palettes or the $150 master set) is $8 for a kabuki body brush. Most of the stuff I buy is $1, $3 or $6. I was in love with their tinted moisturizer for a while, but when I read that they use mineral oil (clogs pores, enhances UVA/UVB rays) in it, I decided to stop using it. I may try their SPF 45 powder.

I think that E.L.F. is a great place to start for beginners. Everything is reasonably priced, so if you get something you don't like, big woop! You only spent a few buck on it and I'm sure there's something you can use it for later. I used it as a jumping off point for my brushes. Yes their brushes aren't AS soft as some of the super expensive ones, but they aren't as rough as some of them as well. They have everything you can imagine, eye and face primer, eye shadow, lip stick, gloss, makeup remover, faux lashes, mascara, blush, highligher, etc. Seriously. The Essentials Master Set comes with just about everything from the Essentials collection and it's $150 and comes with a gold make-up case. Check it out here. If you're interested in doing makeup on others as well as yourself, and you're just starting out, this might be something you'd want to look into. I'd recommend trying a few of their products first before making the purchase though. It may not something YOU like.

I have the Essential eye shadow brush and blending eye brush. From the Studio collection I have the contour brush and the fan brush. I'm REALLY jones-ing for BOTH stipple brushes they have. The studio line is much softer than the essential line. Essential line brushes are $1 and Studio brushes run $3-$8. They do also sell the brushes in sets as well.
They also have a brush shampoo and a daily brush cleaner. I actually take the shampoo and put a little bit with some water to make my own daily brush cleaner. It works really well and is lasting me a long time.

I personally haven't used the eye shadows, but my bestie, M-Prime, has a palette of theirs and really loves it. She's done some pretty amazing looks with their palette. I've been wanting to get a palette just to see what their colors are like, but I didn't have the money when they were at my local Target, and I don't want to spend shipping to get it to me. So maybe someday I'll get one.

From my Primer Shootout post, you can see that the essentials eye primer did pretty well against UD's primer potion. I don't really have a favorite though as I use them both depending on my mood. I'm out of my UD primer potion though. *CRY* I should just get a second job strictly for money towards makeup purchases. HAHAHA! I don't think D would like that very much. He thinks I have too much makeup as is.

E.L.F. can be found at any Target, although I've noticed that they won't all have the same products and a lot of stuff won't be available in Target. I have a local Wal-Mart-esque store called Meijer that just recently started carrying E.L.F. and they have a LOT more make-up than Target does, but they don't have ANY brushes. I guess it's just the luck of the draw. You can either go from Target to Target to Target in search of something that you're looking for, or you could just bit the bullet and get it off the website and pay shipping, unless you purchase $50 worth of product and then it's free shipping. HOWEVER, right now they're celebrating their 8th birthday, so you only have to spend $25 to get free shipping. That ends tonight at midnight though.

Now, I'm by no means saying that E.L.F. is better that UD, or MUFE, or Benefit or any other of the high end brands. It's comparable with most of their products and is a great place to start if you're a beginner, or perhaps don't have or don't want to spend the kind of money on cosmetic. There's the old saying of "you get what you pay for", well when it comes to a good lot of E.L.F.'s products, I'd have to say that's not the case. For what you pay, you get a decent product that is great for beginners who want to learn, but don't necessarily want to spend outrageous amounts of money on products to LEARN on, and might not like in the end.

Sorry my post is so... picture naked. It's been one of THOSE Mondays. Hahaha. Until Terrible 2 Tuesday!
